Walmer Saavedra

Co-founder / Board Chair

Walmer is the Board Chair of Human Scale where he oversees and implements the long-term goals and strategies of the organization. He also interns at Lendlease, a construction management and real estate development firm.

After successfully completing the ACE Mentor Program in 2015, Walmer participated in the ACE Summer Design Build program where he helped design and build an outdoor classroom for Santa Lucia Elementary School in the Bridgeport community.

That same year, Walmer was invited to be a Student Committee Member for the Chicago Architecture Foundation’s Chi-Design international ideas competition.

In 2017, Walmer re-established the National Organization of Minority Architects student chapter at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Serving as President, Walmer successfully grew the chapter’s membership and focused on creating professional development programs such as software tutorials, firm tours, resume workshops, and design workshops.

Walmer currently attends the University of Illinois at Chicago where he is earning his Bachelor of Arts in Architectural Studies degree. In 2017, he was awarded the School of Architecture Faculty Choice Award for best first year undergraduate project. He is also a seven time recipient of the Undergraduate Talent Tuition Award for his academic merit.
