The Hive

About

The Hive is an expansion to a community garden that includes an outdoor classroom, cafe stand, storage shed, benches, tables, cubbies, and chalkboard. It was designed for children in the Pilsen community.

The Hive resembles a scaled-up version of a langstroth hive. The outdoor classroom reveals the typical frame that is found inside langstroth hives, and the hexagonal pattern shows us the honeycomb structure created by bees.

"Human Scale did a wonderful job incorporating all the ideas we brainstormed during the design process into the final product. We now have a ton of extra storage space with the new shed and amazing outdoor features for the kids classroom."
