Aylen Pacheco

Co-founder / Board Director

Aylen is a Board Director of Human Scale where she focuses on project development. She also interns with Studio Gang, an architecture firm.

Aylen has completed internships with many firms including Landon Bone Baker Architects, Studio Gang, Krueck and Sexton Architects, and Related Midwest. She is also the communications manager, web developer, and social media coordinator at a local pet store in the Little Village neighborhood.

Aylen has won several city wide design competitions organized by the Chicago Architecture Foundation including the 2015 BP Pocket Park Design Competition, and multiple Newhouse Architecture + Design Competitions. In 2015 she was invited to be a student juror for the CAF’s international ideas competition, Chi-Design.

In 2017 Aylen re-established the National Organization of Minority Architecture Students chapter at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She currently serves as President and aims to strengthen the chapter by organizing workshops and seminars with the goal of enriching personal, professional, and academic skills. She has successfully hosted technical workshops, construction site tours, panel discussions, and networking events.

Aylen currently attends the University of Illinois at Chicago where she is working towards her Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree and is expected to graduate in the summer of 2020. She is on the Dean’s list and has been nominated three times for the School of Architecture Faculty Choice Award. In 2016, Aylen was awarded an ACE Mentor Chicago scholarship due to her academic merit.
